She broke the record for this: Participates in NHK Best Singers contest in Japan (Breaks record as the only foreign artist to ever attend four years in a row)

^ break a record means surpassing the previous highest on anything
so yeah if she breaks the record of selling the most albums, means she sold the most albums...tat's how it works :D

anyhow i remember this..
she is the only one to receive 2 awards on mtv asia awards 2004, including the most influential artist in asia award! ^^
dunno u can count tat as a record keke

she's one of the most celebrated foreigner in japan in terms of japanese music.^_^
she;s kinda accepted into their culture

-First Korean artist to reach no.1 in Japan
I think that sums it all up.
-At the same time she won the Daesang award (Korea)
to become the youngest artist to have a no.1 Title. (Recapped in boA history dvd, 2002.)
-First Korean artist with TVXQ to be featured in an US airport (L.A.X. ) on a large poster.
This is true international recognition.

first artist to release number 1 albums in both korea and japan at the same time?
no 1 and valenti?
dunno i guess so..tat's 2002, tat's the year where everybody recognises her and also arguably the most successful boa year

Being the FIRST to do something isn't really 'breaking' a record, but it is a great accomplishment.

no being 1st wouldn't be "breaking" a record... but it'd be "setting" a record. so it's even better because she's the FIRST to do so
