Seriously, it all goes down to the foundations of the love between the two of u.
If your feelings allows u to survive through the whole process of this LDR, then it is good. Everyone would hope so.
Another important thing is the trust that u have for each other.
However, trust always end in betrayal. :notworthy:

erm seriously no offence , im not trying to hurt u or watever

but i have a friend that have a LDR before

and i seriously tink it wont work well

i made a bet wif my fren they wont last and it came true

its like u couples wont be able to contact each other much and

when she needs u , u wont be there

when u need her , shes not there for u

get wat i mean?

u cant get to hug her whenever u want to

and who noes she might be flirting wif other guys

so i will say that the possibility is very low if u wanna plan for a "real" and big relationship

well no matter how low the possibility will be I will take the chance.. hehe,..

;) wow that's a long time..
hmm if you really think it'll work then maybe..
She's probably just as worried as you are.
BUT.
if you guys don't see each other for 5 years (or more)...then sorry that's going to be hard.
I mean that's more than 1800 days...

Hmm I think I'm in the same situation too.
I really like this girl, we've been talking on msn and on the phone for a while but she lives in Washington (the state) and I live in California.
I personally think long distance relationships can work if the people love each other enough.
I say you guys should definitely keep in touch.

Word! ;)

I'm in no relasionship, but my uncle is. And his girlfriend is all the way in the Phillipines. From what I heard, this long distance relationship is going pretty well. I mean he calls her everyday.

It will work. Just call her a lot!

EDIT:
5 years?!??!?! That's a LONG time!!! But, if you trust her a lot and if you love her so much... then i hope everything will work out.

I dated my girlfriend(YES!OMG I'M GAY.) online and only met her for several times(she lives pretty far from me). I stayed with her for 2 years while I was still in the Philippines and for our 3rd year, I moved to Miami. Yes its very hard to talk to her because of the time zone and my mom. I email her and she replies within a couple of days. The fear of her neglecting me is very hard since she can do that by just not emailing and changing her number. A few months ago, I felt guilty of having a girlfriend since my mom said it was wrong and she was far so I decided to break up with her..(Trust me I can't win the debate ;_:) Now, I still email her like we're still dating because I'm waiting for her to find a guy before I let go(cause she's suicidal >_>) but we both know the relationship will not come back. Though you want to be with someone far, the fact that you can't really know what's really going on is the very hard part.

Pros in this relationship
-you can cheat anytime you want ;_;(I've done it a lot >_> but I told her everytime I did lol)

Cons
-Lying can be very easy to do.
-When you need him/her, he/she's not there for you

I think having a long distance relationship is good. Mine worked out very fine even though a lot of people said it was bad to date her. I think if you have been with someone for a long time, both of you develop trust for each other. Loneliness will be an issue both of you would go through with but I guarantee that when you see each other, it'll be a great foundation for a relationship.

It depends on the situation. In your situation there's a possibility. If you both want to stay together then do that. It didn't work for me. I went to Japan to meet my girlfriend though, and she finished with me while I was there. People are always different in reality, and people also change over time.

I don't think they work because both parties are able to do what they like and keep things a secret from one another.

IF YOU BOTH PUT THE EFFORT INTO IT....
IT WILL DEFINATELY WORK!!!!
DONT LET THAT DISTANCE GET IN THE WAY!!!!!

....Now....if it's a one-way love like mine, the relationship will probably fall apart.
