#2277861 Forum Malware??

Posted by Coolin on 18 February 2015 - 08:06 PM

I took a look at the forum and I couldn't see any sign of intrusion.

Just in case, I purchased a new server in a new datacenter with a brand new operating system, did a clean install of all the forum files, and only ported over the database entries. If any malware could have existed before, it can't now.

Let me know if you're still seeing problems. If you still are, I would highly recommend you check for malware on your computer.

I installed some new software that will hopefully block most of the spam bots. Let's hope this fixes it. :)

#2184549 Forum Upgraded

Posted by Coolin on 12 January 2011 - 12:03 PM

WOW!!! For a moment, I felt like I stepped into Soompi LOL!!! I guess they decided to keep the general template... I like the colors. Quite pleasing to the eye... Hmm... don't know why this always happens. After every forum upgrade, the quotes for all the previously posted items always loses the box highlight... strange...

The quote problem is known and I'm currently fixing it. It takes quite a few hours to do, but it should all be fixed in two more hours or so. If you find any other bugs, please feel free to report them in the bug thread.

Wow, this is really cool! thanks for the upgrade haha

will we be able to use the old forum layout? i always liked darker themes

Unfortunately the old forum layouts no longer work. Pitabread will be working on a new layout so we won't be stuck on this default layout.

#2184457 Forum Upgraded

To resolve the recent spambot problem (and because our previous version was hopelessly out of date), I have upgraded the forums to the latest version of Invision Board. There's a lot of new features in this version of the forum, so I hope you guys play around and have fun with all the new stuff you can do.

The forum upgrade will be an iterative process, and we will be making small improvements to the forum as time goes on. Since this is a major version upgrade, there's bound to be some little bugs here and there. If any of you find any problems, please report them in the following thread: Forum Upgrade Bug Reports.

#411887 homosexuality!!!

Posted by Coolin on 09 April 2005 - 04:13 PM

My typical tongue-in-cheek responses when asked about gay marriage in real life (don't take this as a true opinion):

"It's wrong, the parts don't fit."

"God created AIDS just to kill off all the gay people."

Now that I have that out of the way, lets get on with the real issue.

Incidentally, this debate is raging in Canada right now... With some people claiming that this issue could go so far as to bring down the government. Personally, I doubt this would happen. But anyways, I'm going to approach this issue with a Canadian perspective.

In Canada, homosexual couples have all the same legal rights as married heterosexual couples. So there is no problem with unequal rights for gay couples. However, the homosexual community are angry over the fact that they cannot be labelled a "married couple" but rather simply a "common law couple".

Personally, I am for giving gays the same rights as heterosexuals. I believe that all humans were created equal, and should be treated as equally as possible. However, I am against giving homosexual couples the label of "marriage". Heterosexual marriages are, in my opinion, sacred. They have the special ability to create and foster a healthy environment for a child. This ability for heterosexual couples to reproduce is integral to the survival of our species, and I believe that couples that can further our species deserve special recognition. A man can live with another man he loves for the rest of his life, but I don't think they should have the right to be put under the same label as a man and a woman.

I am also going to use an argument posed by one of my friends instead of posing the idea as one of my own. She says that if gay marriage is allowed, and given identical recognition as heterosexual marriage, then in the future, children would not realize the distinction between the two types of marriage. This, she claims, is not right. I agree, this situation would result in a drastic decrease our ability to further our species and vary the gene pool.

Heterosexual marriages must be distinguished from homosexual marriages.

#389279 READ BEFORE POSTING: Rules and Regulations

Posted by Coolin on 29 March 2005 - 09:02 PM

The Serious Discussions forum was created as a place for the more thoughtful members at BoAjjang to discuss topics in a more mature manner. BoAjjang is not a discriminatory place, and thus all members are welcome to post in this forum. However, although we do not discriminate on age or race, we must ensure that Serious Discussions does not become another spam forum: all the posts in this forum must be mature. As a result, you must abide by the following rules to participate in this forum. Breaking these rules can result in your posts being edited or deleted or your account being warned or banned.

1) Only post if you have something constructive to offer to the discussion.

2) All members must express tolerance for the views of other members. If you disagree with someone else, make a post that intelligently refutes his or her points, don't just go and bash them personally.

3) Unless you can somehow convey your point(s) brilliantly, Stay away from one-liners and short replies. If you don't know or 'dunno', don't post!

4) The rules of BoAjjang apply to this forum, but will be enforced more strictly. If you cannot follow the basic rules of BoAjjang in the section that requires the most maturity, then you should not only not post in the Serious Discussions forum, but anywhere else as well. We suggest reading the rules again before posting.

5) The Serious Discussions forum will be strictly moderated to ensure a high level of maturity in thought and discussion. You may have your threads and posts closed, edited, or deleted without warning if moderators feel that you've made a post for the sake of posting.

6) If you are going to discuss a news article, comment and provide some insight on it. Simply posting a link or copy/pasting the thread does not contribute to the Serious Discussions forum. If you are copy/pasting a news item, please place it in [quote] tags, or somehow make the text visually different from your commentary (i.e., smaller size, italics, etc.)

-------

The original rule #3 has been removed due to the consideration of our international members.

Omitted Rules:
3) An ability to properly use the English language shows maturity. Use correct grammar and spelling in your posts. The Serious Discussions forum is not a place for "lolx hehe I sooo agreez!"
