#2251227 BoA summer 2013 Jap new song/single

Posted by miwako on 02 April 2013 - 04:49 PM

I think it's just okay. I actually think it sounds better than Only One but it certainly is not her best work. I'll reserve any further judgement until I hear the full song though.

#2251054 Flashback: ravex - Believe in Love feat. BoA (2009)

the whole Ravex album is pretty awesome. However, Believe in Love is my favorite song on there.

I usually enjoy the work she does with other DJ's. I don't know if she would be uber popular with Electronic and House music but I think it would be a cool thing for her to do more of.

Everything Needs Love is another great one she did with Mondo Grosso.

#2233477 Global Super Idol Contestant did BoA My Name as a mission

Posted by miwako on 27 June 2012 - 11:57 PM

Yeah...no. The dude with the glasses didn't sound too bad and the girl with the black hair (I'm assuming she is Thai) was really the only one who could carry a note and put some power behind her voice. (But even she couldn't save that tragic performance) The girl with blonde sounded flat the entire time and her rap parts were so-so.

OMG But the Thai dude sounded god awful. I mean it got to the point where I just started to skip past his parts when he was singing because the sound of his voice hurt my ears and my feelings.

And the background music sounded like a 14 year old kid created it in 30 minutes on a Yamaha keyboard in their parents basement. But quite honestly I'd have to say that watching that performance and listening to that song offended me and caused me pain.

#2228731 SNSD on David Letterman and Regis and Kelly - A Big Insult to BoA'

Posted by miwako on 02 February 2012 - 02:09 AM

Well I just watched it and it wasn't terrible. It was just whatever. I will admit that they actually sounded better than they usually do. I'm sure it is because they aren't on a terrible Korean music show *cough* Inkigayo *cough* and because they have a live band and so they can't depend on the back audio track like they usually do. And that stage was too small for them lol!

I know everyone feels a sense of betrayal that these girls are performing on national televsision instead of BoA but so what? I'm not trying to be a pessimist here but like I said earlier; LETS BE HONEST WITH OURSELVES HERE. SNSD got picked up by a major label because they are more popular than she is now. HOWEVER, they won't be ensured of having any success just because they had a performance on a talk show. The only reason they got this far is because of their crazy fanbase.

"The Boys" isn't even that great of a song. Pfft we already know that we won't be hearing that bland pop song on the radio. The songs that are on the radio today are songs you can either dance to, bump and grind with, or rap with. In fact I'll even go as far to say that the song sounds a bit dated. Go and listen to other aritsts on the radio and then come back and listen to "The Boys". Can you dance to that song?(no) Can you picture it being played in a club?(no) They really should drop Teddy Riley (haven't heard of him since Blackstreet LOL) and the fake stage attitude and come up with a SOLID concept. So, far the only DEFINITIVE thing you can say about SNSD is that they are a cute girl group with 9 members. That may work in Asia but that won't fly in the U.S.

So, good luck to them lol

#2217175 Police Beat ‘Gentle’ Homeless, Mentally Ill Man to Death

Posted by miwako on 27 July 2011 - 07:05 PM

I hardly ever make any post about the news but this just insane....

Posted Image

"This video, shot on July 5 by a student in Fullerton, California, ostensibly features the sounds of 37-year-old Kelly Thomas crying for his father while being Tased by police officers after he supposedly resisted arrest. Thomas was also beaten so badly that he was placed on life support. He died several days later."

Thomas—who suffered from schizophrenia, and was homeless—caught the attention of the police after someone reported that a burglar was breaking into cars parked near a Fullerton bus station. When officers approached Thomas in the depot parking lot and tried to arrest him, he resisted. What happened after that is a topic the Fullerton Police Department doesn't seem too enthusiastic to discuss—but the sound of Thomas's voice certainly speaks on their behalf. And as this gruesome photo shows, the six officers involved in the altercation beat Thomas beyond recognition; after several days on life support, Thomas was taken off the machines and died. (To be fair, two cops suffered broken bones.) Update: According to this report, a police sergeant stated on July 20 that, contrary to several news reports, no officers suffered from broken bones as a result of the Thomas incident—only "soft tissue damage."

This story really just broke my heart because this is the reality of the sad world that we live in. I know that there are MANY cases were police officers abuse authority but this particularly struck a chord with me for some reason. And I've seen videos and read stories of women and children getting tasered, arrested and beaten as well. Apparently the family and other people in the community have been demonstrating out front of the Fullerton police department but so far the police have been tight lipped about everything. NO ONE has even spoken to Kelly's parents yet. No apology, no announcement, nothing. I just watched Kelly's father do and interview in which he stated "The only thing we have left of our son is the blood in the gutter". And I know that not all cops are as corrupt and vicious but it is really the bad ones that give all the others a bad name. I know everyone has been saying this but these cops should really be put on trial for murder. There is no justification in a ruthlessly beating of a apprehended, defenseless, weeping, schizophrenic, homeless man. Because of theses 6 officers this young man went into a coma and later died. And I know some may be thinking "Well, if he was mentally ill and if his family cared about him so much then why wasn't he in a facility?" Well, apparently (not just in CA) since the 80's there was a deinstutionalization process going across the country. Many viewed mental instutions as places to just keep the mentally ill instead of treating them. And so while deinstituionalization took place there was supposed to be more emphasis on community support, treatment, job training, etc. However, because of the lack of funding there just aren't adequate resources. And mentally ill patients aren't able to stay in instituions forever so that is most likely what happened to this young man.

I only wish that those accountable be served just punishment. And if not then I at LEAST hope that their badges get taken away from them.

What are your opinions? Do you think that things should have been handled differently?

#2216826 Why did BoA drop her U.S. tour so quickly? Is she coming back?

Posted by miwako on 20 July 2011 - 12:11 AM

I doubt that is possible with her contract with Avex. Isn't there an interval in which she has to make albums? Not only that but if she were to leave Japan(especially for years) I really think that whatever popularity she has will just disappear. I think the only reason she was able to do that with Korea was because she was at the peak of her popularity. But with things going the way they are in Japan she needs a TURBO boost not a hiatus :/

And as for her touring in the US again. I doubt it. I know she said she wanted to come back again but I can only imagine her promoting COBU 3D and not much else...Maybe some source will mention her US album but again...I doubt it >.>

#2215602 To ask a girl out

Posted by miwako on 28 June 2011 - 02:37 AM

You should really ask her out now before someone else gets to her first. And because it is summer it's actually the best time for you to do this. I'm not sure how long you have known each other but just hang out and have a couple of conversations together. And if at the end of the day you still find that your feelings for her haven't faltered then just be honest and tell her how you feel. Tell her that you really like her, (or some other compliment that you see fit) and ask her if she would like to go out on an actual date instead of just hanging out.

I know that it's extremely hard (BELIEVE ME I KNOW!) but just as other posters have said, you will feel great once you do it. That weight on your chest will suddenly disappear. The worst that could happen is that she won't feel the same way. But in my opinion, nothing is worse than seeing the person you like with another guy/girl and knowing that you didn't try or the fact that you will have to ponder what could have been.

#2211037 Twelve more girl groups are preparing to debut this year

Posted by miwako on 27 May 2011 - 09:03 PM

OH this is just heaven for me lols MORE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS FOR ALL

america needs more girl groups too >:|

No but seriously .. . I agree quality please. I'm going to rage if SNSD loses attention because of the new groups

I doubt SNSD will lose any attention.

But COME ONE KOREA. STOP. I don't see how this is beneficial to these companies to keep churning out groups one after another. Because lets face it, none of them really stand out in the least. In addition to that, these groups lack consistent and talented members. And I'm sure that they know that these groups don't last for a very long time. Usually it's because A)they lose popularity B)they just suck that bad C)they have a blowout with the company D)or the members just aren't happy for some reason

Why don't companies stop trying to ride the idol group cash cow and debut a unique or truly talented artist. The article itself said that they had a difficult time trying to find people to form groups with (because they couldn't compete with current idols). END THE CYCLE

#2208447 Could I be the first!!

Posted by miwako on 11 May 2011 - 09:00 PM

I don't know you really have to look at your audience. You would really have to compete with the current singers out there and it will be about 10x harder because not only because you will be a foreigner but also because you are black. Times really are changing and younger people may not be as prejudice as their elders but it is still there. My step mom (who was born and raised in Korea) actually told me that the Korean public has a bit of a skewed view of black people because of the negative images they see on the media. So, you would really have to work very hard to break down those images and stereotypes.

BUT I'm not saying the it's not impossible.

I know there is a black enka singer in Japan right now.

>>>>>> <<<<His name is Jero and he is awesome!

Although I don't know if using Jero or Crystal Kay are good examples because they are both mixed -_- Ugh I can't express my opinions adequately. I know this sounds pretty random.

#2192361 What could Korean entertainment agencies learn from their Japanese cou

Posted by miwako on 09 February 2011 - 07:27 PM

its funny because I always thought it was so funny that SMAP and other japanese boybands could manage to stay together and be successful for SO many years whereas korean boybands fall apart after 5 or so years...

#2192359 SM Entertainment to debut new male group in March/April 2011

Posted by miwako on 09 February 2011 - 07:19 PM

oh my goodness stop with the friggin guy groups please. actually...stop with the groups period. I truly believe that SM can release all the guy groups they want but none of them will ever be as awesome as H.O.T or DBSK.
