New Utada Hikaru album 3.19.08!!!

14 January 2008 - 05:51 PM

According to Tower Records Japan, Utada’s 5th original Japanese album will be released on March 19th, 2008. While not officially confirmed by EMI Japan, the fact that Tower has a proper product code seems to bode well for the validity of the information.

EMI will most likely be updating Utada’s website with official information in the next few days.

I'm soooo excited!! I knew that she was going to release an album this spring, but I didn't know when. It's not too far away!

Album/Single Reviews

18 June 2007 - 04:39 PM

PLEASE READ:I thought making a topic where people could post their reviews of albums/singles of Japanese, Korean, American or any kind of music would be a good idea because it could familiarize people with artists. Also, it would be helpful since there is so much new music coming out this year. The reviews can be good or bad. Please respect people's opinions on music, but don't use this topic to completely bash artists you don't like.

When you post your review, please post:
1. name of artist and album/single
2. a picture of the album/single cover
3. the tracklisting
4. your description (opinions) of each song, even if they are short
5. a song-by-song and general rating out of 10

IMPORTANT TO NOTE BoA's music can be reviewed here too. Also, if you see that there have been already 3 reviews of the same album/single, please don't review that same album/single. This is so things don't get boring.

HELPFUL SITES (for covers, tracklisting):

Here's my first review:

Singer: Crystal Kay
Album: Call me Miss...

1. Baby Girl- I think this song is original and has a good beat, but I feel CK could have opened with a stronger song. 7.5/10

2. Kirakuni- As the only almost completely English song on this album, it rocks!! I love her sexy singing in this song and the lyrics are so much fun!! "Kirakuni, take it easy" 10/10

3. Koi ni Ochitara- This uplifting love song is awesome!! The orchestra and her voice together are soo pretty!! 10/10

4. Hero- Even the beginning of this song sound quite poppy, it shortly has a strong beat added. I like this song, but it isn't in my top favorite songs for this album. 7/10

5. Telepathy- This song is so relaxing and CK's light, soulful voice is perfect for it!! The saxophones are a great addition! I love this song!! 10/10

6. KTK- I really like the guitar at the beginning of this song and how it blends in later. And the bridge is awesome!! 8/10

7. I Know- I love how fast-paced this song and its beat!! And it's a lot of fun to sing along to! 9/10

8. nobody but you- I really like the lyrics and the R&B feel of this song!! 9/10

9. Together- This song starts off a bit soft, but I love the smooth feel of it later on! And I love all the different instruments you can hear throughout the song. 9/10

10. fly to you- I'm not too fond of the random, high-pitched lyrics of the song, but the rest of the song is pretty nice. 8/10

11. Kitto- This is a pretty ballad, but it's not one of my favorite songs on the album. Maybe it's because I don't like many ballads. 7.5/10

12. Two As One- This is a very J-poppy song, but I really like it!! CK's singing is beautiful and Chemistry's voices very nicely compliment hers. 9/10

13. Happy Life- This is a fun song, but I'd have to say it's one of my least favorite on the album (and I don't really know why). 7.5/10

14. Namida ga Afurete mo- Another ballad song, but I like it better than "Kitto." CK's singing is really beautiful. 8/10

15. Kiss (Orchestra Version)- This is another version of a previous song, but it's a bit better than the original. The orchestra arrangement is awesome! 8.5/10

OVERALL RATING: 8.5/10 This album is a FANTASTIC blend of pop and R&B music!! And CK's voice is awesome!! Definitely one of my all-time favorite albums!!
