Topics I've Started

30 November 2007 - 06:28 PM

Has anybody heard of this site? It's a very interesting concept that goes to a great cause.

You play a vocabulary game where you have to pick the synonym of a given word. For every correct answer, the United Nations donates 20 grains of rice to stop world hunger. It was originally 10, but it was increased on November 28. The money is generated from the ads at the bottom of the page.

The game is actually kind of fun. It has different levels of difficulty that adjusts to your answers, so it's great for people learning English to people who know it very well.

The site was launched on October 7, 2007. If you look at the statistics, the amount of rice starts at 830 and jumps all the way to 383,730,260 from yesterday!

So if you want to increase your vocab, you're bored, you want to help, etc. then please visit this site!

I've donated 3000 so far today. What about you?

Video resolution problem

11 November 2007 - 12:42 PM

For some reason, the resolution of some videos I have change when I play them.

For example, I have a TS video that has a resolution of 1440x1080 (4:3), but when I play it in MPC, it plays it as 1920x1080 (16:9).

And then when I take a screencap, it has the 1440x1080 resolution and it's out of proportion:

So if anybody has any thoughts about this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

[Scans] LOVE & HONESTY Korean import booklet

01 November 2007 - 01:44 PM

Booklet scans from the Korean import of LOVE & HONESTY. This booklet consists of a mini-bio, five pictures, and the lyrics translated in Korean. I added the sticker on the outside, too.
Also with a picture not in the Japanese version (the second last one)! The Japanese one only includes her head.

Vanessa Carlton

31 October 2007 - 01:59 PM

Hello, does anyone here like Vanessa Carlton? She's one of the few English artists I listen to.

Vanessa is best known (and for the most part, only known) for her 2002 hit "A Thousand Miles". Strange though, I'm really not a big fan of this song.

She's very unique in that she writes/co-writes and composes all her songs, which are very piano-oriented.

Vanessa released her third album, Heroes & Thieves, a few weeks ago with her new label, The Inc. I think it's her best album so far, her amazing songwriting skills shine through again! Some of the arrangements could have been better, though.
