In Topic: [2015.12.9] BoA - Lookbook (Single) - PROMOTION / Details

23 December 2015 - 02:31 AM

Lookbook charted at #18 on Oricon Weekly, flopped.

I rarely hear about BoA these days in J-pop, she comes out of nowhere every Christmas to sing Meri Kuri and disappears again for a year. There are successful J-pop soloists active right now like Kana Nishino, JUJU, Shiina Ringo and Namie Amuro. Koda Kumi is kind of flopping. Utada is on hiatus, she had a child this year and is married to an Italian man. Ayumi Hamasaki is flopping and is busy with her American husband, she got divorced from her Austrian husband. I'm also part of the old-school J-pop fans, and in some Asian airlines you can hear VALENTI or Meri Kuri on the audio selections, BoA's old J-pop songs are available in Cathay Pacific last time I checked.

I always do my best to ignore anti-fans because the majority of them lack the ability to make any legitimate point.

This statement right here is completely unwarranted. How am I an "anti-fan" exactly? And thank you for insulting my intelligence, last time I checked my responses had a proper introduction, body and conclusion. There are legitimate points.

I know you just want to voice your opinion (or fact since yes her career is kinda dead), but it's kinda getting boring since you're repeating this EVERY SINGLE time you get a chance to bring this up. Everyone realizes she's not popular anymore, but you have to bring it up EVERY SINGLE TIME!

If you don't like me bringing it up every single time then you are free to ignore it. But don't label me an "anti-fan" just because I am critical. I have never attacked or bashed BoA, my comments are genuine concerns on her career.

When I see responses like this, its a sign of really insecure fanbase that cannot take criticism. I always feel hostility when I post in this forum.

BoA's career in Japan is dead. BoA will do alright in Korea but her overall fanbase is getting smaller and she's not gaining new fans. A lot of bad career decisions were made by BoA and her management post-THE FACE era (2008). The US debut was doomed from the beginning since BoA was signed not even signed under an American label and the decision to put BoA's Japanese activities on the backburner was the biggest mistake since she lost her biggest fanbase.

^ We're probably not getting that either because BoA isn't bringing in a lot of money for avex and they don't want to invest a whole lot of money in her out of fear of getting affected on their bottom line or that they simply just blew their budget on E-girls and Tokyo Girls Style...

Oh, I see it now :) I still don't like it  I just don't think it suits her.

Don't bring TGS into this, their album shoots are not even high budget, just well executed. BoA's is just poor execution, budget is not the reason. Koda Kumi, Namie and Ayu all had really simple, low budget album covers in the past year but they look good.

This album needs to flop so we don't get a repeat, by far BoA's worse album release. FLY is a good song but this is just a glorified compilation album of flop singles.
