#2276473 [Album] [03.09.2014] WHO'S BACK?

Posted by Mashimaro-san on 14 September 2014 - 02:05 PM

I always do my best to ignore anti-fans because the majority of them lack the ability to make any legitimate point.

This statement right here is completely unwarranted. How am I an "anti-fan" exactly? And thank you for insulting my intelligence, last time I checked my responses had a proper introduction, body and conclusion. There are legitimate points.

I know you just want to voice your opinion (or fact since yes her career is kinda dead), but it's kinda getting boring since you're repeating this EVERY SINGLE time you get a chance to bring this up. Everyone realizes she's not popular anymore, but you have to bring it up EVERY SINGLE TIME!

If you don't like me bringing it up every single time then you are free to ignore it. But don't label me an "anti-fan" just because I am critical. I have never attacked or bashed BoA, my comments are genuine concerns on her career.

When I see responses like this, its a sign of really insecure fanbase that cannot take criticism. I always feel hostility when I post in this forum.

This album needs to flop so we don't get a repeat, by far BoA's worse album release. FLY is a good song but this is just a glorified compilation album of flop singles.

Wow this has got to be BoA's best merchandise since Made In Twenty (20).

As if we don't know it will flop. Keep the negativity to yourself.

Why are you all so defensive?

I've been a BoA fan for 10 years, I'm mature enough to acknowledge its going to flop and its a damn shame what is going on with her career these days. Maybe y'all are just too young to remember the days, I still remember when Love & Honesty came out and then Best of Soul, she was so cool... good old days.

Also the other J-pop princesses are doing fine (well except Ayumi Hamasaki, but she's living in the USA these days experimenting with different sounds), BoA's the only one flopping really... I wish she would put more effort in her J-pop releases, like the lack of promo is not good. Everything just looks so half-assed and rushed, the quality of her releases these days pale in comparison to her earlier years.

SM Ent. had a big mishap with their new group's (red velvet) music video:

Derogatory newspaper clippings referencing wwii/hiroshima were used. August 6th marks the 69th anni. of the bombing so japanese citizens aren't too happy.

I don't know how or if this will affect BoA. As if she didn't have enough problems smh.

Wow I just found out about this from you. This is so disgusting in all levels. The 9/11 incident and bombing of Hiroshima are tragedies for all humanity, to be completely ignorant about it and edit it in a music video is disgusting. There is really no excuse!

I don't think this will affect BoA's career in Japan but I'm definately no longer supporting SM Ent. except for BoA. This isn't a simple mistake, it had to be intentional.

^ hmm yeah, you're probably right. That does kind of make sense. Just sucks for us fans as well as for BoA I'm sure. Even though she technically hasn't released an album in ages in either Japan or Korea (I mean we even got jibbed with only one a bit - it shouldve been released as an ep / mini album), she has been really busy with other projects. I do miss BoA in Japan a lot. But hopefully we won't have a repeat of this and get another album filled with all new material next year *fingers crossed*. Korean or Japanese! Or preferably both! ;)

What's sad is that they could have avoided this by releasing two EPs instead, its not unusual to see J-pop artists releasing EPs. They're labelled as "singles" but they have 4 to 5 different songs and music videos. But I think probably there is something in the contract that prevented it?

EDIT: I came up of an idea of what could have been done instead.

Release "Only One" as an EP, with this tracklist:

- 1. Only One

- 2. The Shadow

- 3. Milestone

(+ 4 music Videos & instrumentals)

And then release "Masayume Chasing" as an EP with a tracklist like this:

- 1. Masayume Chasing

- 2. Tail of Hope

- 3. Message

- 4. Shout It Out.

(+ 4 music videos & instrumentals)

Finally release the album "WHO's BACK?" The B-sides from all the singles could've been saved up to be new album tracks instead:

- close to me

- Call my name

- Baby you...

- First Time

(+ 8 songs and music videos from the previous EPs)

The covers need a lot of work and the tracklist is disappointing. Avex or BoA could have avoided this by releasing two EPs instead of 7 singles then an album. I'm quite certain that this is partly BoA's fault.

I think what happened was that BoA might have been unable to release a compilation album instead because of contractual obligations which she failed to meet. It's weird for an avex trax artist to release 7 consecutive singles without an album, that means something went wrong. I remember that BoA was suppoused to release an new album in Japan back in 2012 but she didn't, as a result every single from WOO WEEKEND to Masayume Chasing was included in the new studio album. The album has over 14 songs, if they included more then it would need to be a 2 CD album and it would be even more expensive. It is disqualified from being considered a compilation album since all of these singles are not from a previous album release.

In summary, I think there was suppoused to be a previous album with WOO WEEKEND and Milestone as the singles. But there wasn't an album prepared (remember that BoA went back to Korea after Milestone), which is why I'm thinking its BoA's fault also since its her responsibility to actually record the songs, and so they just continued releasing singles until it was enough for an album.

#2275912 【Single】〖14/XX/XX〗BoA - MASAYUME CHASINGï

Posted by Mashimaro-san on 31 July 2014 - 05:18 PM

I get it some of you guys like the song, others don't. I think the song sounds really generic, whoever said it doesn't sound like anything out there clearly does not follow J-pop closely. Masayume Chasing sounds like a typical anime OST, everyone from Koda Kumi to Namie Amuro has a song similar to it.

I think owner of the muumuse is either a BoAjjang member, a BoA fan himself or he gets paid to write about BoA since I've seen him blogging about every BoA release since her US debut. Bless the blogger for supporting every flop single.

Well as a J-pop fan you have no idea how annoying it is for me to hear K-pop fans calling J-pop "bad" or "awful." It really puts me off and I've grown to dislike K-pop because of the arrogant fans. K-pop fans generalize J-pop music as "cutesy" and "untalented" when artists like Utada Hikaru, Ayumi Hamasaki and Namie Amuro are legendary multi-million selling artists. Just look around the internet, K-pop fans, the majority, insult J-pop to death. So if you think K-pop getting "dissed" is bad, J-pop has it twice as worse.

#2273801 [Official Thread] Shout It Out Promotions

Posted by Mashimaro-san on 09 March 2014 - 11:00 AM

BoA's fanbase is getting older and she's not gaining any new fans. Her music just doesn't stand out. Also BoA's promotions are lacking, those TV performances are nice but she needs to do a lot more promo not just music but getting her name out there.

We've had this discussion many times before and its safe to say that BoA is no longer committed to Japan, she's Korea-based now and thats what she wants.

EDIT: Basic summary of the current J-pop female solo artists.

- Namie Amuro is dominating the female solo scene, her album "FEEL" (most of the songs are in English) sold over 400k+ copies, lots of magazine and commercials, tours, etc. Promo of "FEEL" album (Namie Amuro has her own YouTube page):

- Kana Nishino is the other female artist that's doing well. Consistent sales, again lots of magazine promos and tours. Promo of "SAKURA, I love You?" single (Kana Nishino has a VEVO account):

- Crystal Kay left Japan and is an independent artist in New York. Her last album was VIVID and it had some fantastic songs.

- Ayumi Hamasaki has zero promos, she's been spending a lot of time in the USA and is getting married (again) with an American man.

- Utada Hikaru has been living in London, UK for the past year and is getting married (again) in Italy to an Italian man.

- Koda Kumi has consistent sales, she's experimenting with English music but she's not doing well with it at all. She still tours and does a lot of promo though. She is also married now too.

Namie Amuro and Kana Nishino are the top female artists at the moment. The general trend has been English music (specifically dance-electronic songs). Namie Amuro, Koda Kumi, Crystal Kay and Ayumi Hamasaki have been releasing a lot of English songs.

When you have all of this together plus the idol groups and rock bands, its hard. Japan is a tough market. I'm not surprised with BoA's sales but at least she's in the top 10.

#2269234 New Single "Shout It Out" 2014.02.26

Posted by Mashimaro-san on 27 December 2013 - 04:08 PM

Looking forward to this.

If its the premier single, that means they are scrapping Woo Weekend, Milestone, Only One, and Tail of Hope. They are starting over. Its a good move because all of those 4 singles would not make a good album, BoA needs new singles.

Possibly new Japanese album much later in 2014 after 3 more singles, starting with Shout It Out.

So I guess this movie was really overhyped by SM Entertainment.

I just need BoA to get back to her regular schedule of Japan-Korea side-by-side releases.

The whole Hollywood and US/Europe debut should be put to rest.

I'm still interested in watching this movie if it ever comes out in North America or online somewhere...

#2260334 Which version of Tail Of Hope did you like more?

I don't care about the other stuff going on, I need this version of the song.
