Promo idea?

17 March 2009 - 11:31 AM

(I apologize to the staff if this is in the wrong place; I couldn't find a pre-existing thread and it didn't seem right to post it in the BoA album discussion thread. ^^;;; )

I was watching tv last night, and I thought of something cool. You know how on the CSI shows, at the beginning, they usually show a bunch of people in a club or something, and there's music playing? They usually use popular songs, and sometimes songs I've never heard.....well, what if they used BoA's songs?? All her US debut songs are danceable, and it'd be some good promotion for her, since the CSI franchise is at the top of the primetime ratings.

(Last week, CSI Miami brought in 14.12 million overall viewers, CSI: New York pulled in 13.52 million viewers, and CSI was first in overall viewers on Thursday with 16.96 million; it draws mostly the 18-35 crowd, but I know a lot of teens watch it too.)

Does anyone know how to contact SM and suggest he plug BoA's stuff on the CSI shows? Or even contact the CSI music-people? XD

Does anyone else know of any high-rated shows that BoA's music could be played on?

Again, apologies if this isn't supposed to be posted. :/

Freeware .avi converter?

09 December 2007 - 12:21 PM

I'm trying to convert a huge .avi file into a smaller .avi file. Does anyone know of a good freeware program that could do that for me? Maybe one where you can input the file size/screen size and it can convert to those specifications. Basically, I just want to be able to upload the converted file on Youtube.

Any help would be appreciated. You don't need to link me to the file if it's too much trouble. Just gimme the name and I can google it.

Thank you. :notworthy:

Good, freeware word processor?

19 November 2007 - 03:04 PM

My computer is lame and didn't come with a good word processor--and no, Wordpad doesn't count. So does anyone here know of a good, freeware, downloadable word processor? All I really need is a word count feature and page count, maybe something similar to MS Works Word.

You don't need to link me directly to it; just a name will suffice. I can always google it.

Thanks in advance.

I hate you, Windows Movie Maker! D<

10 November 2007 - 11:38 PM

Okay, does anyone know how to get rid of that green-half screen on Windows Movie Maker? Like, it previews perfectly, but when I save it, the finished movie is all squished up at the top, and the rest of the screen is like that green screen on theater previews. I've tried 3 different save settings and it all comes out the same. It might be a problem with the source video files, but I used 2 totally different movies, and they both come out that way, so I dunno. All I know is that this is really frustrating. D<

Anyone that can remedy this will own my soul. =/

What songs "take you back" to earlier times?

06 October 2007 - 07:49 PM

I was listening to some old-school stuff on my iPod and wondered if I was the only one who had a bunch of songs that make me think back on happier/better times when I hear them. Or maybe I'm just getting old. Haha. :D

I have 2 time periods where music was the biggest part of my life, mostly because everything kinda sucked for me back then and I didn't have much else to do but listen to the radio (read: I was a loser with no friends). XD So I developed a sense of fondness for certain songs from hearing them over and over on the radio (because they were big when they came out, lol). Here's my list. Kinda long, but I feel like going in-depth. In no real order, just the order I can think of them. XD For me, I don't really have any one moment that each song reminds me of: it's more of a time period for me.

Early 90's to 2000:
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden :: I love this song for so many reasons. Mostly because the radio played it to death because it was a huge hit back in '94. XD
I Stay Away - Alice in Chains :: I can sum this song up in three words: rad opening guitar. I remember hearing this growing up and falling in love with it. Just hearing that 30 second opening takes me back to when I was like, in elementary.
Take My Picture - Filter :: Again, this was played about a million times when I was younger. Loved it, mostly because it reminds me of going to the pool when I was young (for some odd reason).
Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters :: This one actually has a real moment tied to it because I got the Foo Fighter's There Is Nothing Left to Lose CD for my birthday one year (cause I was obsessed with the group at the time) and I played it to death. XD
I Walk Alone - Oleander :: Oh snap, this was my theme song when I was like, 8. lmao I've always loved this song for some reason. I really can't put my finger on it. I know I still love it because I loved it growing up though. XD
Spaceship - Angie Aparo :: OMG I loved this song so hard when I was a kid. I still do, but mostly because I loved it back then. I remember the first time I heard it I fell in love with it. I do vaguely remember that this song was popular on the radio back when my parents divorced and each of my parents were trying to win me over by taking me places and trying to get me on their good side. Yeah, that's kinda depressing. x.x;;; Strange I should love this song even though it has such a morbid past for me. XD
New Beginning - Stir :: I remember first hearing this song when I was reading the Primal Rage novel that came out. XD~~ I've always loved this song, and I'm so glad I found it online a few years ago because I could never remember who sang it.

Stay With Me - Celldweller :: I remember discovering this song when I first found FFR. XD I played that to death and eventually found the full song on Kazaa or something. :)
Prayer - Disturbed :: I love this song, and I remember listening to it back when I used to go to this old anime forum on Proboards (my first forum XD~) and the lyrics of this song were in someone's sig. On a somewhat related note, that board was where I first learned what Photoshop was and how to use it to make sigs. XD
Killswitch - Down and Above :: OMG, even after all these years I still have the 32-64kpbs version of this song on my iPod. lmao I've just never bothered to get it at a higher quality. :P I remember hearing this years ago while I was on some forums. Now it's almost synonymous with horror movies. XD
What It Is To Burn - Finch :: I remember I first heard this song in someone's AMV for a competition on an anime board. XD
Suffocate - Finger Eleven :: Same story. AMV. XD
Father - Lollipop Lust Kill :: I never would have discovered this group had it not been for some guy on a horror board saying this song reminded him of Freddy Krueger. XD I downloaded it to see if it had the same effect on me. It didn't, but I loved it. XDD
No Place Feels Like Home - Midtown :: This song reminds me of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (my favorite non-animated movie) for some reason. Probably because I had that one picture of Leatherface swinging the chainsaw in a sunset as my desktop background when I would listen to music, so the image kinda relates itself to this song. XD (and many others) And it's kinda got that open-countryside feel to it. :/ Sorta. I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. lol

I have an entire playlist of songs that take me back, and this isn't even half of them. XD So now that I've shared some somewhat awkward memories with you all, it's your turn. Do you have any songs that take you back? It can either be a specific event or just a general point in time. I'm sure almost everyone has at least one song that reminds them of past events/times in their lives, they just maybe have to think about it. ^_^
