Posted by moonrabbit on 21 May 2015 - 05:06 PM

BoA and INFINITE member Sunggyu have been seeing success with their latest releases, as it has been revealed that they both made it into the Top 10 of Billboard’s World Album Chart.

According to the official homepage of Billboard on May 22, BoA’s new album took charge at number six, while Sunggyu, who recently made his solo comeback, ranked at number eight on the chart.

This past May 12, BoA released her eighth full-length album titled “Kiss My Lips.” Furthermore, Sunggyu officially returned as a solo artist after almost three years with his new album titled “27” on May 11.

In related news, both BoA and Sunggyu also jumped into the Top 50 of iTunes’ Top Album Chart for the pop category this past May 13.

#2277731 BOA's 2015 PROJECTS

I'm sure there won't be a problem, SM know how to promote their artists :)

They didn't know how to promote their so-called Chinese BoA, Zhang Li Yin for a long time. Their idea of promoting Red Velvet was adding appalling mentions of tragedies in their debut video.

I read an article stating that Utada will be doing a comeback album! Can't wait!

#2277001 I did not recognize BoA here.

^ I'm going to be perfectly honest and say that if I didn't know BoA was in this movie I wouldn't have recognised her at all. This isn't the first time either.

[spoiler]

This picture still kind of creeps me out even now.

lol Even beauties like BoA can have an off picture like that! She looks exhausted in that picture. This was before whatever she did to her face (chin injections, shaved chin possibly). I just ask that she doesn't go overboard. I don't mind if people get PS, I get concerned when they do it too much. Sometimes an individual gets addicted to PS thinking that they're not pretty enough, destroying themselves in the process.

Honestly? BoA can do whatever she wants to her face. It doesn't stop me from feeling disappointed in her though I was very reluctant to say anything on the matter at first.

As for her music, there are other types of music than soul less electronic, overly autotuned music that she should try.

Hyori is 35 and yet I don't see much people commenting that she's too old and needs to retire.

I mean, that might explain why people talk about her surgeries (I agree: she was beautiful and didn't need it), but it doesn't explain why people don't care about her actual work. lol What I'm saying is that, she only gets attention when it's surgery/something negative, but very few pay attention to her actual music. That's the difference between her and other K-pop surgery cases.

I understand where you're coming from though there's an old saying "Any press is good press." Even if they're only talking about her changing face (to my extreme chagrin), they are still acknowledging her existence. There are plenty of Kpop artists who aren't mentioned anymore like Dambi or even Lee Soo Young, the former K-ballad queen.

The thing about BoA's music is that it's old school  R&B and pop style which I still adore. However, there are other artists like G-Dragon, Jolin Tsai, Namie Amuro that try new things like new looks, new gimmicks, new music. I love the musical direction that BoA took for the Only One album because it was mature and free of gimmicks. She only wanted to be herself, no heavy make-up or flower headdresses. The problem is that most people want the gimmick, the repetitive music, the colorful costumes and the addicting dance moves.

Hinachan, you took out all the words out of my mouth and mind. BoA was absolutely beautiful. She looked just fine and I can actually tell her apart from other women in Kpop. The more Koreans people do plastic surgery, the more I cannot tell them apart and that's not a good thing. Red Velvet is a perfect example of this and so was the Korean drama, Surplus Princess in which I couldn't tell one long haired actress from another. I don't say this to insult BoA's home country, I am merely pointing out that people should accept their own looks and just because their chin isn't knife sharp or their nose isn't tall, doesn't mean they're ugly.

That's great news! I initially didn't expect to read a lot of positive feedback :)

I wouldn't say music since we're talking about Korean releases here. I think her music career in Korea is just fine :)

Her Korean music career has to be more than fine in order for SM to want to produce more BoA products.

#2276867 Here we go again with the ugly fonts for Fly's single covers

Don't care about the font. I only see the gorgeous BoA covers. I hope her Korean album has elegant theme like this.

It seems like in Korea a lot of these boy and girl bands usually get a lot of love for their personality and silly antics in reality shows/variety shows. Since BoA doesn't do those, I don't know how else she could get more popularity. If actual talent counted for a lot then a lot of today's popular pop acts wouldn't be popular.

#2276474 [Album] [03.09.2014] WHO'S BACK?

Posted by moonrabbit on 14 September 2014 - 02:39 PM

This statement right here is completely unwarranted. How am I an "anti-fan" exactly? And thank you for insulting my intelligence, last time I checked my responses had a proper introduction, body and conclusion. There are legitimate points.

If you don't like me bringing it up every single time then you are free to ignore it. But don't label me an "anti-fan" just because I am critical. I have never attacked or bashed BoA, my comments are genuine concerns on her career.

When I see responses like this, its a sign of really insecure fanbase that cannot take criticism. I always feel hostility when I post in this forum.

Calm down. ShiroiChanUK is referring to my comment about the anti-fan comments on BoA's Youtube videos.

I suppose you're right, ShiroiChanUK. I should stop reading their dumb comments anyway.

#2276458 [Album] [03.09.2014] WHO'S BACK?

Posted by moonrabbit on 13 September 2014 - 01:46 PM

BoA's last two Korean albums did well in Korea but I wish that she had a big comeback that basically said, "I'm BoA, the Queen of Kpop! Bow down before me!" Shutting all the anti-BoA fans up.

#2276417 [Album] [03.09.2014] WHO'S BACK?

Posted by moonrabbit on 10 September 2014 - 12:44 PM

Personally I think this album would've had a lot of potential to attract non-BoA fans. It is full of cheerful, upbeat songs and it would've done well if promoted more. Then again, I haven't been checking out the current J-pop scene much so maybe I'm wrong. Of course, us BoA fans would've been unsatisfied. I would've even gladly accepted all new songs composed by BoA (like in Identity).

I'm daydreaming about the next Korean album. Have such high hopes for that one since her music has matured.

She looks amazing. Her outfits all look so good. I have no complaints so far. They finally hired a better stylist for her and no bad wigs!

I like the black sneakers in the 4th pic.

Is there a BoA subbing group that would sub BoA's appearance on the Strongest Group? I don't understand Mandarin.
