It's similar but it's not a copy. Maybe the composer was inspired from that?
Unfortunately, one whole section of the melody was definitely copied.  It doesn't matter if the rest of the song is completely different or not.  Perhaps the rest of the song was inspired from that plagiarized segment.

heh IMO i dont this this is a coincidence
maybe they (boa, her company or whoever) used part of this song for everlasting
if they did, they surely asked the right to use it maybe someone should check on the album it it's mentionned

"Everlasting"

Music: Kazuhiro Hara
Lyrics: BoA, Natsumi Watanabe

I have no idea if Kazuhiro Hara actually was the music writer for Tsubasa, though. Only thing I could find out was in Japanese and translators don't romanize names right. >.>

I still love Everlasting muchly though. *_*

Masamune Carlos: The rules are basically: six notes. If anything more than six notes in a sequence are the same, then it's considered a copy regardless if the rest of the song doesn't sound like it. Especially given how the rhythm is similar, even if the tempo isn't, I think it was copied. However, I'm not discounting the fact that the music writer loved that melody so much they asked permission.

I heard this song yesterday. It's Tsubasa by Undergraph. Released spring 2005 (=a year before everlasting). And yeah, listen to yourself:

Maybe it's kind of a cover...the Sailor Moon theme song was based on a song from the 1960's, and now there's a song by a guy (HG, or some name like that) called "Young Man", which is based on the Village People's "YMCA".

So it's happened in Japan before, and since BoA has covered songs (Spark, for instance, which most people here know was recorded in Spanish and English by another artist), it wouldn't be the first time BoA has covered a song, either.

I will say, however, that her vocal performance on Everlasting is a LOT better than the original, if this is the original. :)

You said six notes, regardless if the rest of the sound doesn't like it.

So...that's the chorus part only, and the first two lines of it. So i think it's not a copy at all o.ov

Yeah. The members at bestiz caught this almost immediately after Everlasting's release. I think I've mentioned it in a thread previously as well. Anyway, it's pretty obviously not a cover, as none of the original composers/lyricists are credited. "Tsubasa" was released in early 2004, and was the single that got UNDER GRAPH somewhat known. And it's not just that part of the song that resembles Everlasting.

I just don't put it past Avex anymore. Especially after DOUBLE.

I've heard that DOUBLE was copied somewhat from a britney spears song, do you have a clip of it (ive been looking around for a comparisson of the two songs for a while now :D)?
