As a guest on the upcoming episode of ‘Win Win‘, BoA will be revealing the stories behind her success as a Hallyu star as well as her hopes and dreams.
One story she revealed was about her school days and her life as a student. She immediately received much attention from the MCs and the audience as she revealed, “I entered middle school as the top ranked student in the class.” However, despite her achievement as a student, she was unable to continue with her schooling.
“As I started my promotions in Japan during my school days, I was unable to attend school often, and thus I ended up quitting school. I obtained my high school diploma by taking the G.E.D (General Education Development) test,” she stated.
She revealed her honest thoughts and her desire to attend school as a normal student as she continued, “I thought about going into college, but I realized with my singing career, I could only be a phantom student. I didn’t want to attend school just for show.”
“I can’t have everything. Instead of school, I have gained life experiences by promoting as a dance-singer. I’m thankful that I’m able to receive love from people doing the things I love,” she concluded, touching the hearts of the MCs of the show.

BoA revealed her nickname within the walls of SM Entertainment.
On May 29th’s airing of KBS‘ ‘Win Win‘, BoA commented on her judging style on SBS‘ ‘K-Pop Star‘.
The MCs told BoA, “When you were judging, you gave a lot of hurtful comments with a smile,” and BoA responded, “My personality is direct, and I can’t beat around the bush. When working, I don’t give hurtful comments, but I do give direct comments.”
MC Kikwang added, “I heard your nickname within the agency is Kwon Gura,” referring to the brash and straightforward Kim Gu Ra.
Viewers commented, “Her biting remarks were scary,” “But her personality seemed nice,” “BoA is the best,” and “I like BoA the best.”

Singer BoA captured the viewers’ attention after revealing her beliefs on the reason for her short stature.
On the May 29th broadcast of KBS2‘s ‘Win Win‘, MC Tak Jae Hoon asked the singer if she had ever been reprimanded as a trainee.
“They told me to lose weight a lot,” she said. “It wasn’t fat; it was baby fat. When you’re in junior high, you’re supposed to eat a lot and grow, so it’s only natural that I didn’t grow because they told me to lose weight.”
“I think I’m going to be grieving about this for the rest of my life,” she added.
The emcees then agreed with her saying, “Junior high is a time for you to be develop and grow, not a time to lose weight.”

BoA explains why she was chosen to represent SM Entertainment on ‘K-Pop Star’

Singer BoA revealed the hierarchy system within SM Entertainment.
On the May 29th episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Win Win‘, BoA talked about how she was selected to be a judge representing SM on SBS ‘K-Pop Star‘.
“One day during a company dinner, Chairman Lee Soo Man remarked that it would be nice if I were to be the SM judge on ‘K-Pop Star’,” she said. “At first, I was dumbfounded.”
“Within SM, I rank third after Yoo Young Jin (songwriter / producer), and Kang Ta,” she continued, admitting that the idea of representing SM was “a little intimidating.”
“Aesthetically speaking, he thought it would be better for me to join the judging panel, instead of Kang Ta who is a male,” she said with a smile.
When asked why the Chairman himself did not join the panel, she answered, “I think the long filming hours would have been hard for him at his age,” letting out a laugh.
“To be honest, I’m not sure why. He said he would think about it, but he became busy with something else in the meantime,” BoA explained.

BoA is Chummy with Kimura Takuya

BoA revealed how she came to be close with one of her favorite Japanese celebrities, Kimura Takuya.

She started off by talking about how she came to speak Japanese so fluently on the May 29 broadcast of KBS2’s Win Win. She explained that the SM Entertainment system, which had her stay at the home of a Japanese news announcer, helped her a lot.
The Japanese announcer BoA had stayed with actually came on the show via video chat. The announcer talked about how it was back then, as the one who had been closest to the 14 year old BoA when she first stepped into Japan.

The announcer said, “BoA always carried around a Korean-Japanese dictionary. Whenever she didn’t know what a word meant, she looked it up. She also liked Japanese films and dramas, and she watched shows with SMAP’s Kimura Takuya in them and memorized what he said.”

BoA smiled shyly at the explanations, and said, “I really liked Kimura Takuya. I was able to meet him through many televised promotions.”

BoA previously told the man himself on SMAP’s own program, Fuji TV’s SMAP x SMAP, that she was his fan, saying "He takes cares of me when we meet."

2 years ago is the time she finished Identity (was released Feb 2010), and prepared to comeback with HV

Boa talks about her special relationship to Mr. Lee Soo Man



Singer Boa revealed how she calls the founding chairman of her agency Mr. Lee Soo Man.
The June 6th episode of KBS ‘Win Win’ will broadcast the 2nd part of Boa’s special.
On this episode Boa will talk about the chairman of her agency Mr. Lee Soo Man, who has recruited her and as well as been through every step of her growth process.
Boa stated, “My feelings towards Lee Soo Man sunsengnim is very special because I was there when the agency was first founded and we’ve been through thick and thin together as I made the debut in the international market. I know that in his heart I rank #1.” (Sunsengnim = teacher or someone respected and endeared).
Boa added, “In public I call him Lee Soo Man sunsengnim, but when it’s just the two of us I call him ‘Ssam’ (A cute slang for teacher) or ‘Soo Man Ajji’ (Ajji – a cute slang for ajusshi. Ajusshi = an older gentleman). The only people within the company who can call him like that are me and Kangta oppa.
The 2nd part of Boa’s ‘Win Win’ special will air on June 5th.
