^ Come on, man, those photos were photoshopped to the max.
I don't think they're proof that she pulls off the "typical American popstar look."

I have no doubt she can look alright in it, but she obviously likes the stuff she's doing right now a lot more.
It also didn't work out because she didn't look completely comfortable in it.
You can tell she's a natural with the tomboy stuff, but she looked awkward at times in America.

I agree with you, but on the same note, BoA is a human being, and most human beings like change - most people don't ever want to completely throw a style out of the window forever, even if they don't succeed with it on their first try.

I have to agree with Mashimaro in the sense that fans are forgetting the era when BoA LOVED being sexy. When she transitioned into 'My Name', she LOVED wearing tight pants, she LOVED wearing stilettos, she LOVED baring her belly and doing provocative belly dances and letting her bellybutton ring show, and she loved the attention for the "sexy" look she was getting.

BoA is a person, and I think we need to keep in mind that that means, she isn't going to stick to the tomboy style and love that forever. I'm sure like me, she'll have phases and days when she wants to feel like she's sexy or other times feel like she wants to go low-key or boyish, but in all honesty, I think she's pulled off both sexy and boyish very successfully (let's also not forget her most successful look, the "Pixie sexy" that went smashing in Japan with 'Dakishimeru', etc.), so I think if she goes sexy this time, hell yes, I welcome it.

As for the GaGa inspirations, I agree with both sides - yes, a lot of artists are being inspired by GaGa's fashion, but on the same note, as someone excellently pointed out, Hyori did this back then with 'Hey Mr. Big' - and if that was after GaGa's release, then let's not forget Uhm Jung Hwa with D.I.S.C.O (that almost even beats GaGa's craziness, even to this day). The crazy eyelash makeup was done by Seo In Young for 'Cinderella', and I can go on and on and on.

So, yes, a lot of artists may be inspired by GaGa right now, but that is also not a good justification to start calling artists who come back with a very "outlandish" fashion look as being GaGa inspired, ESPECIALLY if they tapped into it before (i.e. Hyori, Uhm Jung Hwa, etc.)

If anything darling, all of those suppousedly extravegant artists you just mentioned including Lady Gaga are inspired by Grace Jones and Madonna, heck even Marie Antoinette.

Marie Antoinette had shoes, sparklers, and boats on 10 inch towering powdered hair hundreds of years before Grace Jones and Madonna did it. Let's not forget those extremely wide French panniers (skirts) that is now re-incarnated as "The Living Dress" by Lady Gaga.

Chopines anyone? Those 15th century platform shoes are about 10 inch higher than the ones you see Lady Gaga wears today that you need an assistant to help you walk.

I doubt Lady Gaga even have platform shoes as high as the betch Diva Courtesans of 15th century Venice:

Nor did any of them have boats on their hair with sparklers than betch Diva Marie Antoinette paraded around:

Nobody said anything about these artists inventing the style. The point was that the alleged Lady Gaga copiers were doing the style before Lady Gaga so, it's not fair to say that they are ripping off her style, copying her or inspired by her. People seem to think that if someone does something strange then they are biting Gaga's style.

You are very correct, though. There were people before Gaga, before Hyori and even before Madonna that were outside of the box with their fashion and style.
