She still has name recognition in that country. But the name isn't enough. You need good songs.
How come Boa isn't as big as Namie amuro in japan?

Her awesome era wouldn't be over if she were to release better songs. It's as simple as that. Her earlier Japanese albums were of far better quality than her recent ones.

BoA hasn't been active in Japan for a while so there could be many people who don't have a clue who she is. Namie is a local girl so I suppose she attacks more interest, not to mention how much of an icon she is.

Not sure if I should say this but I think her fan base in Japan just grew up with her and left her.
I must admit I grew up together with her music, but as I grow older, her music is not as appealing to the same crowd anymore.
she have outgrown the musical style and it can be seen she is having a hard time to formualte a new sound that is prominent as her start out era songs.
I was taken aback when she decided to release another cutey song woo weekend after having a few musical changes from lose your mind to bump bump. But am happy to see her taking more a creative role since her identity era.
Even thought Identity is a mass, I think it gives her experience to come out with better song like Only One, Disturbance.
Despite saying so much, I have all her discography. It would be interesting to see how much creative control she has in 2013.
in defense for saying Im not her fans. anyway the photobucket account is my nick in other forum.

I guess it's all about opinion. To me, I don't enjoy Namie Amuro's music because it sounds all the same to me... On the other hand, I find BoA experimenting and trying many kinds of genres....

Namie Amuro has experimented plenty of genres too, her songs don't all sound the same at all. I don't know what you're listening to...
I've grown up with BoA (since I was 10, now I'm 20) and I really want her music to evolve more, she's been playing it safe ever since the disaster with IDENTITY. Hurricane Venus, Copy & Paste and Only One were pretty safe too, generic.
EDIT:
I deleted my previous post cause I already posted something similar in the first page. I should really be careful when people revive 1 year old threads...
Can a mod lock the thread up? I remember some days ago someone started reviving a dozen 1 year old threads!
