The judges representing Korea’s ‘Big 3 Agencies’ (SM, YG, JYP) are coming together once more for the second season of SBS’ K-Pop Star.
On July 4, Yang Hyun Suk, Park Jin Young and BoA came together for the first time in two months to shoot for the main posters of the second season of SBS’ K-Pop Star.
Gathering in a studio in Seoul’s Cheongdam-dong, Yang Hyun Suk first showed signs of awkwardness but as he became comfortable helped create a light and fun-filled atmosphere with his witty comments.
Park Jin Young came with a set list of energetic music he had prepared beforehand to help him get into the atmosphere of shooting.
BoA, like the veteran she was, immediately showed her professional side once the cameras began snapping and even earned the praise of the studio staff.
Despite the long time having passed since the three came together for the show, the three judges seemed as though they had just seen each other as they shared laughs and conversed on the upcoming season of the audition show.
Park Jin Young shared that day, “I’m extremely nervous and anxious as to what new friends we will meet [in the new season]. It’s like the feeling one gets before a blind date. I’m ready to fall in love.”
BoA added, “I hope I can say, ‘I love you’, again on this new season.”
The three also shared on what sort of contestants they hoped to select in the upcoming season with SM’s representative BoA saying, “I want to find a hidden jewel in the second season who not only possesses strong vocal skills but is a skilled performer,” hinting she would like to find a second BoA.
YG’s Yang Hyun Suk shared, “We’re not just picking people who are good at singing but we want to find people who possess hidden talents that not even his or her parents or friends knew about and we want to nurture that talent.”
JYP’s Park Jin Young lastly added, “Rather than flawless skills we want to find individuals with potentials. If you think to yourself, ‘I think I possess something special’, rather than, ‘I’m still lacking’, then please audition! The rest you can leave up to us.”
The upcoming season of K-Pop Star will hold auditions in five regions around the world (New York, LA, London, Australia and Vancouver) and began receiving audition applications on June 1.
