I seriously flipped out when I heard this song cuz its EXACTLY like BoA's "Don't Start Now" and her song is called "Toodle-Oo". Both of the songs came out at the same time in 2001. Not to be biased or anything but BoA's version is so much better.

Brooke Allison's "Toodle-Oo"

BoA's "Don't Start Now"

Listen to both of the songs you guys! Let me know what  y'all think....

The must have sampled the same song at around the same time. Happens all the time. I love BoA's better BUT I idn't like her English back in the day. I'm so glad she has worked on it! Her English album I was wary of BUT was pleasantly surprised!

You realize the Englsh version was probably covered by BoA in Korean right? It happened with (Don't know what to say, Hurricane Venus, Spark, etc) before, so it's nothing new really. All the English versions came out first but were discovered later down the line..

^ Yes, BoA did a cover of "Toodle-oo" in English, as well as Korean and I'm pretty sure she did it in Japanese, too.  They changed the English lyric very slightly, to make it a little more appropriate for a girl BoA's age, LOL.

She has done cover versions of several American and European songs.  The English version of "I Don't Give A Damn" was originally done by a Norwegian singer whose English was flawless.  BoA's version was in Korean, but her vocals were quite good; in the refrain, she sounded a lot like Pat Benetar at times!

Interesting. I never thought to look any of this stuff up. A lot of old-school songs.

... That, or imo, it's because singers in Asia just prefer covering songs sometimes. BoA's definitely not the only one.

The original is the English version. They are both produced and written by the same people.

BoA released the original version (which is in English) first in the USA back in 2001 as an American single and Brooke Allison also released it later on the same year as an album track.

There is a rare CD of the Don't Start Now American single by BoA. The CD art has a pink background, the font is yellow (or was it white) and there's a picture of BoA on it, she has this weird braided pigtail on it. I saw a photo of it a few years ago.

I saved the photo before in my old computer, its super rare, someone posted it on BoAjjang once a long time ago.
