with the news of Kingdom Hearts III being the hot topic on my Facebook feed, the question was asked, who would sing the theme song for it? Utada would be the best choice for obvious reasons, but seeing how she said she might not sing for Kingdom Heart III a couple years back (no source for this), who would sing it instead?

being biased I obviously thought that this would be a great opportunity for BoA

hhhmm.. it would be nice if it is BoA will sing the theme song for the KH3.. but i'm definitely sure that they are looking for some pure japanese(meaning to say she/he has a pure Japanese blood) artist who can speak english fluently will be chosen for this project..

Utada is the only one I would want to continue the theme songs, no offense to BoA.

Firstly I'd just like to say that it's about freaking time we heard news about this game Secondly I can't picture anyone apart from Hikki singing the theme song. Plus BoA's music wouldn't really suit the game.

aww when i read the title, i thought it was true i think utada would be the best choice but if BoA has the opportunity, I hope she would do it. BoA has good Japanese and English skills so she'd be able to sing both versions and her experience with Mamoritai would definitely make her a good candidate (I was also thinking of Koda Kumi and her 1000 words song but fans complained about her bad English so they got someone else to sing the english versions so maybe she isn't that great for this)

I like BoA but Kingdom of Hearts III is Hikki's territory, and don't mess with Hikki.

KH didn't really help Utada Hikarui in the US very much so I doubt it would do anything for BoA either. If anything it would help BoA in Japan but that's all.

Regardless, if Hikki doesn't want to do it then someone else will have to. Maybe someone like Chenelle or Beni.

Actually if it wasn't for Kingdom Hearts no one would have known her over here XD everyone I have met knows her from KH's

But I can't imagine anyone else for KH than Hikki (missing her lots btw T T). It'd be amazing if BoA got the chance though - she's got good enough English pronunciation- but its unlikely :/

So Utada Hikaru is known in a niche market that isn't really related to the music industry? As a faceless OST singer... Not exactly the best exposure or representation of herself. More importantly, it didn't do much for her record sales either. Sure she sold more than BoA (not that either did well) but Hikki was on a major label with better marketing and distribution so that's a given.

Make Your Move/Cobu will be much more beneficial for BoA.

Whenever I talk to people who don't normally listen to Asian music about Asian music I always ask them if they know who Utada Hikaru is and they say no but then when I refer to her as "the women who wrote and sang the theme songs for the Kingdom Hearts series" they know exactly who I'm talking about

If the movie ever comes out that is =P both singers did horrible because neither got any real promotions.

COBU 3D is an indie film, its not going to be distributed nationwide in the USA,,,

I really hope you're not making it sound like Utada Hikaru is not an influential singer, because she is. She's well-known amongst music aficionados around the world, she has more credibility than BoA in the music world...

Utada's first US album EXODUS was critically acclaimed in the USA, she did the whole electronic and house music style way back in 2004 before it was mainstream, innovative and ahead of its time. You can't say the same for any of BoA's American releases.
