Just put the subs and the video together in one folder and it should work.

the video file and subtitle file has to be the same name, also in the same folder.

do you mean to encode it onto the video permanently and not just see it like putting it in the same folder?

if you do encode it, you wouldn't need to use vobsub then. Also don't use vobsub, just download bsplayer and you can load the subs manually.

is there another program you could use to permanently encode the subs onto the vid? my tmpgenc trial ran out and sometimes virtualdub is weird. like the sound is off. or the video is off. 'off' as in the audio isnt in sync with the video or vice versa. anyone know how to fix that? because i converted the audio into a wav and then added it the video but it was still off so im guessing that the video was skewed. i dont know what to do after this.

For hardcode subs i usually use tmpgenc.. just use the free one. just encode into avi, and when it plays it will play with the subs in, if you had named it the same name(not ext) and in the same folder.
If you want soft subs, just put them in the same folder and name it the same name but don't change their extensions (ie. initiald.avi & initiald.srt). Check out www.kloofy.com for movie subs.
