Simply because I'm a smartass and do not appreciate being ordered around... certainly not in a rude fashion. lol People always tell me that I'm going to get my ass kicked... Although I'm not completely defenseless. So *shrug*

lol i would just apologize and smile then step back out of habit probably.
i always accidentally bump into people, so i say sorry almost automatically. hahaha

I'd say something. XD First I'd be like, "O___o Why?" and if the person was like, "You're too close!" I'd say, "Um. Okay. You could have just told me that in the first place instead of being so snotty. "

depending on the situation, if someone told me to step back i'd just stop and look at the person who said that. in your situation i would've stopped looked at that person and say with a straight face, "why? what's wrong?" if she gave me some stupid answer i would definitely talk back. and i don't believe that you were standing so close as to be resting your chest on her back. if not, then i believe that she just wanted to provoke you into starting something up. people like that definitely have problems. i've dealt with people like that before. i don't budge. some people are just stupid.

I would have said something to her, not just move.  Come on, its so rude just to say "step back!" without an explaination or any courtesy whatsoever.  Perhaps what I'd say is "Excuse me? whats the problem?" or something along those lines.

I'd be shocked if someone said "Step back!" instead of ASKING politely...so my initial reaction would be saying "What?" After they explained it, I would probably say sorry and move...just because I don't like being confrontational.
