Korean Social Security Number

I've search for this topic but didn't find it, hopefully no one posted about this before

I see that some votings require us to have Korean Social Security Number, I have a few questions;

~~1. What is actually KSSN?~~ thanks for the wiki link LastGuardian!
~~2. What is it used for? other than voting~~
3. Is it safe? since it requires copy of ID or something like that (correct me if I'm wrong)
4. Can it be deleted?
~~5. Is it just for Koreans?~~
